Revenue: Why we want to be paid for results – not for activity

The R in REVAGO stands for revenue – securing and growing it, with existing and new customers alike. Why that goal is the yardstick for AI agents in sales, and what results-based pay means once the system is up and running.

Marketing and sales have become remarkably productive in recent years – at least if you count activity. More campaigns, more content, more touchpoints, more dashboards. And yet leadership teams keep asking the same question: What has all of this actually done for our revenue?

That question is where REVAGO starts. The R in our name stands for revenue – not as a buzzword, but as the yardstick we hold ourselves to.

What we mean by revenue

For us, revenue means securing and growing revenue – across existing and new customer relationships. If you think of revenue only as new business, you overlook the customers you already have, and with them a substantial part of your future revenue base.

That is why our use cases come in this order:

  1. Repeat Business – turning recurring needs into repeat product purchases or service orders, with or without a subscription.
  2. Customer Expansion – unlocking additional revenue in existing relationships, for example through further services.
  3. Customer Reactivation – bringing dormant business relationships back to life.
  4. Customer Acquisition – guiding new customers to their first orders.

The easiest way in is agentic sales: AI agents in sales that pursue goals within defined limits and work alongside human decision points. The scope is wider than that – your entire go-to-market, from target groups and positioning through communication and marketing to sales and the development of existing customers. Which parts REVAGO takes on is set by each engagement.

Activity is not a result

Activity is easy to count: emails sent, posts published, calls made. AI changes the equation. When a language model can draft a hundred emails or twenty articles in no time, activity keeps getting cheaper. If you mainly measure activity, you are measuring something that is ever easier to come by.

Metrics such as open rates or reach can help you steer a process. But they are no substitute for a business result. What matters is whether customers buy again, order more, come back after a pause or are won for the first time. That is what we focus on.

You pay for results – not for activity

Once a REVAGO system is in operation, one principle applies: you pay for results – not for activity. No revenue or sales result means no fee. We do not charge for mere usage or activity. How results are defined and paid for is agreed individually in the contract, based on your revenue goals and the specific engagement. The AI-first coaching in phase 0 that comes first is separate and booked on its own.

This decision has consequences – and that is exactly why we think it is right:

It shares the risk fairly. In operation, we only earn when the system works. That gives us a real stake in making development, integration and technical operation deliver – and we take responsibility for them.

It forces clarity before the start. Before an agent is built, it has to be clear what counts as success, how it is measured and when a result is attributed to the system. Many initiatives lack this clarity – and without it, no result can be paid for fairly.

It points everyone in the same direction. When marketing, sales and REVAGO are measured against the same result, debates about who “did their part” lose much of their weight.

Who is responsible for what

A focus on results only works when responsibilities are clear. So we spell them out:

  • You, as leadership, set the goals, the mandate, the framework of accountability and the decision rights.
  • The AI-first coaching in phase 0 creates clarity about those goals and the mandate. The goals come from your company, not from us.
  • REVAGO translates the engagement into an AI-first operating model, develops and integrates the system and runs it technically on an ongoing basis.
  • Operational staff handle the agreed human tasks and decisions. They can work at your company, at REVAGO or across both – the engagement defines this.

In practice, this means: the starting point is captured first – where repeat business, customer expansion, reactivation and customer acquisition stand today. A few clear targets are agreed instead of dozens of metrics. The contract sets out how results are attributed. And whatever is not working, we raise openly and change, rather than glossing over it.

Revenue is the beginning, not the end

Revenue comes first in our name because it describes the goal: securing and growing revenue. Getting there takes more – assessing where agents genuinely make a difference, enabling you, making value measurable, designing agents well, executing consistently and running the system for the long term. In short: We coach you. We build your agents. We run your system. Our services show what that looks like in detail.
